What is the difference between POP and IMAP email configuration?

POP3 and IMAP are 2 different methods to configure your third party emails between your third-party email and your personal email account. This is a great option for those who want to receive all their emails in one platform to stay organized. Both methods download data from KNOSK to your device that you want to view the difference is where the emails are stored.

IMAP (Messaging Access Protocol)

This method is used by email clients to receive emails from an email server. The email is stored on the server and does not take up the storage of your personal email account. You can view the email on multiple platforms. To send an email you must access your email server and send the email.

Positive

+ View on multiple platforms

+ Saves storage on your personal email account

Negative

- Access the KNOSK email server to send emails

POP3 stands for Post Office Protocol

This perfect for those that want to use a single platform to access their emails. The emails are downloaded from the email server and sent to your configured email account. After the email is download and sent, the email is then deleted on the email server. If you send a message from your personal email account, the sent message will be stored on that account. You can view the email on different devices, but only on one mail platform. There is an option that lets you keep the downloaded email to the email server. Make sure that the "Keep email on server" is enabled. This ensures that if you delete an email by a mistake. There will be a copy of it on the server.

Positive

+ Enable to keep an extra copy of your email on to your server

+ Emails are stored on a single email platform

+ Send emails from your personal email account

Negative

- Can fill up your storage on your personal account if emails aren't deleted

- Can only view emails from one platform
